Data Compression

Reducing data size and transmission time are the key benefits of AHA's line of lossless data compression integrated circuits and boards. For 20 years, AHA's application-specific compression algorithm devices have been improving performance in data storage, copiers, printers, scanners and other imaging equipment.

GZIP
Using the open standard compression algorithm GZIP, the AHA3610 compression/decompression IC is AHA's newest compression product with data transfer rates up to 2.5 Gbps. The AHA3610 was developed to increase data transfer rates and reduce storage requirements in applications such as storage area networks, virtual tape libraries, web servers, web accelerators and web traffic appliances including load balancers, firewall VPN servers and integrated routers/switches. The AHA364-PCIeAHA363-PCIe, and AHA367-PCIe compression/decompression accelerator boards are also based on the GZIP compression algorithm.

Product Description
AHA3610 2.5 Gbps GZIP Compression/Decompression IC
AHA363-PCIe 5.0 Gbits/sec GZIP Compression/Decompression Accelerator
AHA364-PCIe 5.0 Gbits/sec GZIP Compression Accelerator
AHA367-PCIe 10.0 Gbits/sec GZIP Compression/Decompression Accelerator

Adaptive Lossless Data Compression (ALDC)
Of the many algorithms available to tape storage manufacturers, ALDC is the highest-rated data compression technology at 2.6:1. Used primarily in data storage, AHA offers a complete family of ALDC integrated circuits based on the LZ1 (Lempel-Ziv 1) class of data compression algorithms. AHA's integrated circuits achieve up to 80 Mbytes/second data compression, decompression or pass-through rate, with a maximum clock frequency of 80 MHz. With the exit of IBM from this business, AHA is the sole developer of stand-alone ALDC.

Product Description
AHA3520 20 MBytes/sec ALDC Data Compression Coprocessor IC
AHA3580 80 MBytes/sec ALDC Data Compression Coprocessor IC

StarLite Data Compression
Resolution and performance improvements are requiring increased memory, and in turn, memory reduction techniques in hardcopy products. AHA's StarLite family was developed for memory intensive applications such as high-resolution copiers and printers. Capable of simultaneous compression and decompression, with speeds ranging from 16 to 66 Mbytes/second, AHA's premier lossless data compression products are based on proprietary algorithms developed specifically to optimize bit-mapped data in memory intensive applications. AHA offers combined compression/decompression capabilities as well as a decompression only chip.

Product Description
AHA3410 25 MBytes/sec StarLite Data Compression Coprocessor IC
AHA3411 33 MBytes/sec StarLite Simultaneous Compressor/Decompressor IC
AHA3422 16 MBytes/sec StarLite Lossless Decompressor IC
AHA3431 66 MBytes/sec StarLite Simultaneous Compressor/Decompressor IC
AHA3430 40 MBytes/sec StarLite Simultaneous Compressor/Decompressor IC
