Summary:

As an integral part of our engineering team, the primary responsibility is to develop new features for CEFD’s WAN Optimization product line. This will entail writing detailed design specifications and test specifications, and then implementing the design specifications in C++. A thorough understanding of TCP/IP and network protocols such as HTTP, DNS, DHCP, and VOIP is needed. The responsibilities include providing accurate work estimates, participating in the design effort, developing code modules, unit and integration testing and participation in code reviews. Software engineers are expected to work with limited supervision and be able to independently deliver software and integrate with the larger project team. Will work on problems of moderate to complex scope where analysis of a situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Must exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action, including weighing the costs of various solutions against their benefits and risks.

Regular and predictable attendance required.

 

Proficiency in C/C++ required.

 

Highly motivated with desire to create the most compelling WAN optimization features in CEFD’s market segment.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Computer Science degree required or another Engineering

discipline preferred.

 

Expertise in TCP/IP, Linux, HTTP, DNS, SCPS

 

Experience with Linux traffic control features or other QoS implementations is desirable.

 

Experience in the product life cycle, from requirements gathering through integration testing and rollout preferred.

 

Experience working with multi-tiered application design and development.

 

Ability to work in a team of developers.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific literature and technical journals. Ability to effectively present information to colleagues and/or management. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of other departments.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
