AHA4540

155 Mbits/sec TPC Encoder/Decoder IC

The AHA4540 is a single-chip Turbo Product Code (TPC) Forward Error Correction (FEC) Encoder/Decoder that operates at OC-3 data rates. The device integrates both a TPC encoder and decoder and can be operated in a full-duplex mode. TPCs offer a higher performance alternative to Reed-Solomon or Reed-Solomon concatenated with Viterbi error correction methods. Ideal for communication applications, such as LMDS, broadband access HDTV, wireless backhaul or 3G cellular backhaul, the AHA4540 will improve speed or performance for nearly any system.

  • Maximum 174 Mbit/sec channel rate
  • Payload data rates of at least 155 Mbit/sec for code rates of 0.90 or higher
  • Built-in helical scrambling
  • Programmable code shortening supports exact block sizes
  • Code rates from 0.2 to 0.98
  • Block sizes from 256 bits to 16k bits
  • RoHS compliant
